A ghost is a spirit that has been separated from its body. They are part of the undead, although one can temporarily become a ghost through astral projection. In the show, ghosts have been mentioned in three episodes, but only appeared in two. They can phase through locked doors, but they can still grab things. Presumably, they can also phase through walls. Uniqua displays the ability to become invisible to other ghosts, which is typically not possible in real ghost lore. Ghosts always glow with a colored aura, although color varies, as the main three have sky blue auras (as do Tasha and Austin in a book) but RedBoots has a mint green one.
